Script writing Example for Count the Vote

Legend/Note: The statements inside the bracket [Statement] are instruction/guidance/hint/information for the Chair only and should not be read/announced to the audience.

Madam /Mr. President!

Ms./Mr. A.

I move "that the vote be counted." [Sits]

Second!

(a) State the question on the motion that the vote be counted:

It is moved and seconded that the vote be counted.

(c) Put the question on the motion that the vote be counted:

The question is on the adoption of the motion that the vote be counted. Those in favor of the motion, say aye. [Pausing for response.]

Those opposed, say no. [Pausing for response.]

(d) Announce results

The ayes have it and the motion is adopted. The vote will be counted.

(e) Put the question on the pending motion:

The question is on the adoption of the motion "That $40,000 be allocated to a parliamentary procedure library."

Those in favor of the motion will rise and remain standing until counted. [Pause and count vote.] Be seated.

Those opposed will rise and remain standing until counted. [Pause and count vote.] Be seated.

(e) Announce results

There are [#] in the affirmative and [#] in the negative.

The affirmative has it and the motion is adopted. $40,000 will be allocated to a parliamentary procedure library.

(f) Announce the business that follows

Is there any further New Business? OR The question is now on [GIVE TEXT OF IMMEDIATELY PENDING MOTION] OR The next item of business is [NAME]
